Winter Caribou

If you are regular winter reader of this blog I would normally be talking about all the great people we met at various sport shows. Since we chose not to attend any sport shows this winter my subject matter is limited to two things: winter in Alaska, and posts about the previous fishing season.

I figure these photos are worthy of sharing.  As Jane and I were driving, this bull caribou just happened to be walking along side the road.  Although not the caribou we've dubbed "Elvis" (he's the king), a healthy specimen nonetheless.

Not much later we found this girl hitchhiking down the road.  Not sure if she was trying to catch up with the bull or trying to get away.

It's definitely been a mild winter here which has lead to quite a few animals out and about (thankfully, bears are hibernating).  If I get any good moose photos I'll be sure to share those with you as well.

There was a report in this weeks Outdoor news that a caribou was seen in the Northwest Angle. Going to be workign the baitshop tomorrow because of the Brainerd tournament. Looks like you are pretty comfortable!
